Bark, Bark or Beep, Beep

A silent, dark night descends upon your charming subdivision. Tonight, you and your family are sleeping calming in your bedrooms until the crashing sound of breaking glass, the kicking in of the back door rouse you from your night time rest. Fear and panic set in as you hear the intruder shuffling through your drawers, taking your things, what happens next? While we all hope this never becomes a real-life situation for your family, the threat of home invasion is real. How will you protect your home and your belongings? For many, the answer is simple—get a dog to sound the alarm and frighten potential home invaders. Others want a home security system that will sound an alarm that will scare off thieves. But which is better?
First, does a dog suit your home security need? If you are considering the a dog, there are some good benefits for you. You family will get a new friend to love and play with during the day. The dog can teach your kids responsibility. As a home security system, a dog can potentially frighten a robber by barking and masking its size. Many dog breeds can sound like a much larger animal; thus, the robber thinks he is hearing a larger, angry dog and leave the seen. But the dog does have some down sides as a security system. You will have to feed and take care of the animal, and the robber could easily lock the dog in a closet and keep on robbing your house.
Secondly, does a home alarm suit your home security needs? Every night, you can set the alarm and rest soundly knowing that the if someone tries to get in then the alarm will sound. Other people in your neighborhood will hear the alarm; thus, forcing the robber to leave. But alarms have there down sides too. You have to learn how to work the system, pay for the monthly fee, and hope that if you need it the alarm works. Sometimes, robbers know how to disarm these alarms too.
On the other hand, you could do a mixture of both, maybe you aren’t a materialistic person. Does your family have a plan for every emergency, do your kids know what to do if they hear someone in their home, then maybe a security system isn’t necessary, maybe just an in home safe to keep all your important papers, designer jewelry, and family heirlooms. This way the things you honestly would care about if they were taken are safe and your family knows what to do.
So, what is your best choice? Why not both options? You can have the alarm and dog system which can give you peace of mind 24/7.
